Location, location! Meet the Londoners making thousands by hiring out their stylish spaces for shoots

“It’s a great way to meet people and feel like I’m part of something,” says Da Silva. Shoots happen most weeks, with up to four a week in the summer. Some months bring in £1,000 while a great month could top £5,000. Sometimes things get surreal: Great British Bake-Off judge Paul Hollywood has baked from her kitchen and First Dates host Fred Sirieix has popped out of her kitchen cupboard armed with Knorr stock cubes. “I have to sign NDAs and don’t know who is coming until the day itself,” she says. Da Silva’s home is listed on Scouty, Styled Home Studios and US-founded Peerspace. To increase visibility, she has invested in boosting her profile on the former. “I’m spending more in order to make more. When I started out, I was one of the only ones in my little corner of south-east London. Now there are a lot more,” she says.
